About the New Horizons Society

For many of us, the desire to make a meaningful impact runs deep. We dream of shaping a brighter future and leaving something behind that speaks to who we are and what we value. One powerful way to honor this vision is through an estate gift to UNM. These gifts support the university’s mission and empower generations of students and faculty to thrive.

To recognize and celebrate the donors who choose to include UNM in their estate plans, the UNM Foundation created the New Horizons Society (NHS)—a community of alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends who are united by a shared commitment to the university’s future.

Each year, NHS members are honored at a special luncheon that highlights the transformative power of planned giving. It’s a special event to reflect on legacy, celebrate connection, and recognize the spirit of generosity that fuels UNM’s progress.

Estate gifts come in many forms and sizes, and each gift matters. A few examples include:

• A provision in your will or trust 
• A beneficiary designation on a bank account, retirement plan, or life insurance policy 
• A charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust that provides lifetime income
